I thought that those who wanted to could post their character biographies in this thread, which eventually could lead to an RP. I also would like to point out that I don't think eventual events of history, like wars and that stuff, will be included in the biographies, since F1859 won't be totally based on what happened, but mostly the world. But I guess your imagination can be used much now since we don't know much about the F1859 world yet.

-------------------------------------------------------------

James H. Richards was born in early June, 1814. His father was a rich and famous lawyer of New York, and his mother was a upperclass woman who had been married into his father's family. Neither of the both parents spoiled James in his childhood, they taught him basics of business and law at a very young age, and advanced as James got older, his father's only goal was to make James the best businessman in the United States of America, therefor he used to school him in the arts of business every day when James had gotten home from his regular (private) school.

His father was mostly harsh and strict towards James, but he still used to show how much he loved his son and wife by taking them both out on family dinners on the fanciests restaurants of the city once a second week or so.

James grew even older, and it was time for him to start his own business as his father retired, he inherited his father's lawyer firm, and ran it with great success, he got richer and richer and he supported his both parents in their life of luxury. But one day James decided to do something very impulsive, he sold the lawyer firm he had ran through many many years, he didn't see why he should carry on with things like that which he didn't even like anymore, both his parents was dead since long, and he didn't yet have a wife even though he was getting to the older days of his life. He bought a set of clothes, some rations and a coach ticket to the west, all his belongings he gave away to charity in New York, he wanted a fresh start, all over from the beginning, to have the feeling of really having worked for those first dollars.

This was the first day of his new life.

They came to America in 1842, a cold and wet February morning when the ship docked, and later that day disembarked to the port authorities.  Past the union army recruiters who are offering fresh clothes and food to any of a suitable age.  On into the city of New York they went with the others from the ship and into the ghetto that was forming where all the other Irish settlers seemed to land up.

Cathal found that area of the city was nearly totally like home, all the accents he ever heard anyone speak where Irish.  He was watching the goings on in the city and could see the gangs that existed not just street kids but organised crime lords taking their cut from everything and then it was clear that even the Tammany Society that seemed so helpful to the new comers was simply after votes for their own political ambitions rather than a true caring for people. So corruption was everywhere, the immigrant gangs fought the local Americans and the politicians reaped the rewards and changed sides based on who seemed to be the strongest gang that week.

This was all the things of his homeland that he had been trying to escape, his wife was expecting their first child they believed the baby would come sometime in July, and Cathal wanted to find a place to really call home before then. But earning the money to escape New York was hard, and the pressure to be sucked into the organised crime was an ever present danger.  Cathal was a big man and he knew like all Irishmen how to look after himself very well indeed, though he was more of the gentle giant type.  He had made his money in Ireland working on the navigation route a railway line between Dublin and Galway. This had earned him the money to get himself and his wife over to America and even take rent on the first lodgings there, but now he has to earn money on general construction work.

They had decided that this was not the place to have their child and heard that Jamestown was a good and peaceful place, but at 350miles would be a long and hard journey to get there, and eventless as the journey was with Cathal doing odd job work here and there at various farms or settlements along the way they made their destination. It was on Tuesday the 28th of June in the early afternoon the stagecoach pulled to a stop and the look on Shemy’s face said that this was indeed their new home.

So it was that on Tuesday the 12th of July at 15 after 2 in the afternoon with the help of the town’s doctor a fresh bouncing boy came into being to the proud new parents Cathal and Shemy Calof, whom named him Jaysan.

Jaysan had some schooling in Jamestown and could read and write to some extent and from the church school had knowledge of the bible.  He was a quick learner and an eager pupil.

Over the years after the Calof’s move to Jamestown the settlement had grown and now here as in New York before, the gangs had started to appear and to Cathals annoyance he discovered his still only child had fallen in with a gang of other kids who where more into mischief and fighting than church work.

So it was that in 1855 Cathal had got a job working on building the railway lines, Illinois Central railroad to be exact, working on the line from Cairo to Galena. Cathal had dragged his wife and son out west from New York with him, leaving them in Cairo, with the intent to move his family to Chicago as the line got nearer to the city his intent to move Jaysan away from James Town.

As the line grew further away Cathal became separated from his wife and son and was left hoping they would be fine in Cairo a riverboat town.

Jaysan now 17 years of age had grown to six feet tall and a slim 150lbs, with grey eyes and blond hair, has the slim frame of youth and the speed quickness and reflexes to match.  The local girls love his looks but he tends to be shy and clumsy around them, and rowdy and loud around the friends he has made in Cairo.

On day whilst his mom was off on some errand Jaysan had found over $300 in her room and suspected the reasons why Shemy went calling on some of the local homesteads and why the towns folk where always nice to them both.  Though if truth be told the money came mostly from his pa Cathal, but his pa had been gone months and Jay assumed had left them here to fend for themselves for ever as no letters had now arrived from Cathal for almost three weeks.  Jaysan took over $50 and bought an old Colt Paterson 1839 Revolving Carbine for his own protection as he put it, and he rapidly became proficient with it at shooting wildlife and other game. He and his mom had had a blazing argument over the money at the time; Shemy was a strong fiery Irish woman and had thought she may have knocked some sense in to her teenage son. Deep down though she knew that he was still a gang member of that James Town lot and he had certain meanness to him she could see creeping in but cared not to see.

There as an incident, Shemy had been thrown from a wagon after the horse bolted and the doctors had been unable to save her...  Now with his mother gone the town seemed less tolerant of him he was branded a trouble maker after the baker had some issues with the teenager.

So Jaysan had bought a horse and saddle, and what money he could find and raise from his moms stuff he sold and taken off towards the west not really sure where he was going...

The journey takes him through Oklahoma and on to Santa Fe through Las Vegas and on to Virginia City

Now a year later he stood on the last ridge looking down at Virginia City and the wonders in front of him...

Jack Jackal AKA: Jack O'Connell, Born to Mathilda Werner O'Conell, and William O'Connell two scottish imigrants who had come to America seeking to make better lives for themselves, with hopes of establishing a ranch. A year after arriving in America they would give birth to their son Jack O'Conell. Methilda unfortunately was lost during birth leaving William O'Conell to raise his son Jack. William O'Conell began establishing trade with the Native American tribes in the area, Never quite building a ranch but life was abundant enough for him, William however only three years after arriving here would meet with an untimely demise, suffering from an unknown illness. Their son and sole survivor Jack O'Conell then only 2 years old, was left in the care of a tribe of Shoshone, that were befriended to William O'Conell as he often did trade with them.

Over the years Jack O'Connell would learn the ways of the Shoshone culture, however at age 18 he was given the last name of "Jackal" by the family which had taken him in, Jack would leave the tribe a year later in search of his heritage. The now 19 year old Jack Jackal had entered a world he knew all too little of, However determined to make something of himself, and maybe even fulfill the father he had heard about so oftens dreams of building a ranch, Jack pressed on working his way from the ground up. However fate can be a cruel and unrelenting foe, and Jack Jackal would ultimately become bitter towards most of the Americans he met, returning often to the tribe that had been his family for as long as he could remember to do trade with them, and other of the Native Americans.

Ultimately feeling an outsider to both worlds, And wandering relentlessly in search of a place he could belong, by age 25 Jack Jackal had a bout with the Fosters, a family of settlers known for more underhanded deeds towards Native Americans, though considered buisnessmen among the American Settlers. Jack discovered that they were trying to rob lands from a tribe of Native Americans, And seeing injustice in that he pled with the local Marshall to stop it, However the Marshall turned a blind eye to it, which began in Jack Jackal's mind a war against the Fosters. Jack over the course of five months would wage a full scale war against the Fosters, Which resulted in the death of three of the Fosters, Mark Foster the eldest son, Jacob Foster the father, and Malcom Foster the youngest son. Jack was then branded an outlaw, and hunted in most towns and settlements which sent Jack fleeing the settlements as an outlaw. He would spend several years going from tribe to tribe, Wandering, and trading back and forth, often times selling furs in order to buy equipment.  Now once again Jack Jackal sets out from the Native lands, seeking a place he belongs. The sins of his past weighing heavily upon his shoulders as he heads back in that familiar direction, Hoping this time for peace....Yet preparing as always, for war.

Gregor Trask was born in Germany somewhere around 1832. His family, like most during this time, was poor but made enough to get by. His childhood was uneventful but his teen years where somewhat intresting. He became very intrested in politics around the age of 16 when he met a university student named Xaver who was handing out leftist fliers. Gregor could read but not well so Xaver took him under his wing and schooled him. Xaver worked on Gregors reading skills and taught him about history and politics. This didn't last very long though. Xaver was arrested during a demonstration a year after their meeting.
Gregors family had never been very involved and with Xaver gone Gregor didn't have much direction in his life. He did some work with the leftists but he was also drawn to thievery. After the failure of the revolution in 1849 Gregor gave into his criminal instincts and quickly got himself into trouble. He had burglarized a wealthy man's home and was forced to flee to Sweden. After less than a year in Sweden he bought a ticket to New York where he began work as security officer on the docks. After some years in New York Gregor decided to move to Milwaukee. He had heard it was a good place for Germans. He spent the next year in Milwaukee but only months after arriving he began to feel depressed. This depression lead him back to crime. Once the authorities caught on he was quickly run out of town with no money and no hope. He decided that it was time for him to make a new life. He would leave himself behind as he walked into the frontiers of the west.

The famous German philosopher, social scientist, historian and revolutionary, Karl Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto in 1848 during the time of the German Revolution. This revolution sought to bring free elections, a constitution and freedom of the press to the German people. Politics were very alive in the 1840's all across Europe. France also went through a similar revolution during this time.

Tim O'malley First stepped foot on the newworld at the age of sixteen, in the year 1854. Fresh off the boat in New York he was prime prey for the local scum. He had come here for freedom, but found only poverty. He quickly found a purpose, if it wasnt what he originally hoped. He became a bareknuckle boxer, one of the best the New York underworld had ever seen.
Everything was working well For Tim until one day he was approached by a man, who told him to throw his next fight. Being the stubborn man he was, he refused, and won the fight. Later that night he was attacked at his home, and after narrowly excaping he found out that the man who told him to throw the fight worked for one of the local mob bosses. He had to leave New York quick.
The year was then 1858 when Tim first headed west, he got a job building railroads, until he realyzed that he could make a better living settling the new land.
The year was then 1859, when Tim holstered his two six shooters, and set off down the trail, in search of fortune, and fame, or maybe infamy.

Dr. Benedict Little was born in New York, New York from an English father and Irish mother. Ben learned to read at a very early age which made his father push him to become a Doctor although he really wanted to be a journalist. Ben recieved a scholarship and admittance into Oxford University back in England. There he became a medical doctor to please his father. While he was in England he'd read and hear stories of young men and women making it out west. The thrill and adventure of Western tales moved him and before long he gave up his residency in Europe and hoped on a boat back to New York. His father was angry with him and told him that he'd practice medicine in New York. After seeing a land grab flyer he knew what he needed to do.

Following a carriage caravan wasn't what he had in mind but a pretty 20 year old bankers daughter kept his mind off of the backbreaking work that he wasn't used to. Months would pass and before long the young lady and the physician flunky were in love. On the journey west the caravan came across a peaceful Indian tribe. In this tribe Dr. Benedict Little met an Indian brave who would later become his best friend but the time was short and Land was still being given to ambitious Europeans. The Caravan moved on.

Fortune made a gruesome turn for the Caravan when bandits raided them. The horses were all stolen and the carriages were burnt with anything useful destroyed or scattered. Bodies litered the ground and Dr. Little utilized his medical training to help those he could. In the midst of all the horror he failed to notice one small detail. Bernadetta the bankers daughter had been kidnapped. Her mother layed dead in the settling dust while her father writhed around still clinging to life. Dr. Little focused his energies on Mr. Billings and was able to stop the bleeding.

Lack of hope swept over the remaining survivors as food was scarce and the horses were all gone. Death seemed eminent but, then all of a sudden on the Hillside and in the sunset stood a lone Indian brave on horseback.

It was his friend "Painted Turtle" who explained that he knew who the bandits were and that the young woman was still alive while they headed towards the Great Basin area.  Turtle knew that Dr. Little would want revenge and so he warned him that the bandits were known as the Black Coyote gang and that their leader. "beware the Black Coyotes and the Rattelsnake Richard Davies" Turtle warned" A man who is not quite a man, killed three times but never died".

The time for revenge was not right but the rescue for Bernadetta required immediacy and so with the help of the Peaceful Indian tribe Ben Little and the settlers moved west towards the Basin.

In a nutshell, Coleman (Cole) Bridges came into this world July 19th, 1827. Enlisted in the Regiment of Mounted Riflemen when war was declared with Mexico in 1846.  Fought alongside General and future president Zachary Taylor in all major engagements. Promoted to Corporal March 1847 and one of the few in "C" company to be issued Colt's new Whitneyville Walker revolver. Stormed the walls of Chapultepec Castle and helped raise the American flag over the castle during the heat of battle. Mustered out at San Antonio at wars end in 1848, he left for the gold fields of California. Ambushed by Pima Indians, was one of a handfull to give chase to the Pima warband and deliver retribution at the end of his Walker Colt.  Not finding his fortune in California, made his way back southeast where he scouted for U.S. Dragoons in the New Mexico Territory.  From about 1855-58 who knows? 1859 finds Bridges as a courier taking Army dispatches from Camp Floyd, Utah Territory to Camp Fremont, military district of California (near Virginia City). Who knows what the future will bring?

Doctor Robin A. Greives, M.D. began his life in 1801 as the son of poor southern farmers who owned a very small plot of land and were considered to be uncultured white trash because they could not afford any slaves, and Robin's father was forced to do the work himself. When hard times set in, Robin's family was torn apart by bankruptcy, and his father began to drink compulsively. Robin's father died when Robin was 10 years of age, due to liver failure. Robin caught pnumonia and nearly died at the age of 14, and was severely weakened afterwards. But, to his incredible fortune, a young doctor decided to take Robin Greives under his wing and teach him the ways of the surgeon. Robin learned quickly, and after several years he was declared to be as good a surgeon as his teacher. However, his teacher-turned-partner booted him from their hospital when Robin was found mixing together different medicines in search of new cures, and experimenting with them on hapless patients. At 36 years old and penniless, Robin decided to move westward in search of more work. In San Franscisco, he met an old Chinese man who taught him some herbal remedies, and within five years "Doctor" Robin Grieves decided to undergo a name change and follow the glorious profession of the infamus Cure-All Elixir Salesman as "Doc Galactik". He has been peddling his 'Cure-All Elixir' ever since, and he is viewed either as a savior or a demon, depending on what ingredients were in the particular person's elixir. Though a con artist and mad scientist by profession, Doc Galactik is still a formidable medical doctor and his years of researching medicines have led to numerous actual remedies. At age 58 and still going strong, Doc Galactik may save your life in a time of need, or doom it instead. Who knows? Only the ingredients may tell...

Dimitri Magenium
Dimitri was born as an orphan and lived with many people as he grew up. He was often left behind because he was seen as a nobody, and was rarely ever respected. Around 14, Dimitri met a man who was nameless. The lone gunman raised Dimitri into a battle hardened, gun slinging, drifter. This man, was the only true father that Dimitri had ever known. He and Dimitri travelled around a lot, and bearly ever had a real place to call home. Often they would have to take bounty hunting jobs to make a living, and if it wasnt enough, they would have to ambush local criminals and steal from them. Through these hardships of life, Dimitri became aware of his skills in gun fighting. And then it happend, One day the man that raised Dimitri left him a note. "When you're ready, come and find me" From then on, Dimitri lived day to day following clues to find his, so called father. Having only interest in finding skilled gunners like him, and defeating them. He came to know only one motto, "You only Truely feel the rush of life, when you are out there risking it."

Born Kola Tiajuana some time when the moon was only half full and no one had a calendar.  Known to his friends as Kola, he was an honest and trust worthy man.  Always quick with and idea or quick with a gun which ever was needed, Kola was Spanish by birth but American by luck.

Playing in card games in saloons for a bottle of whiskey or running guns for gold and silver, Kola was never short of a buck.

His horse is his best friend and he likes it that way because the horse never talks back.
