Mel woke up as the bright sunlight entered the room, pouring in on her face, she looked around, and saw Salocin sitting in the chair next to door "You stayed here?" she asked, bewildered. "last thing I remember was you said everything'd be ok. I didn't know you were goin' to stay. I thought you didn't care about anyone, enough to be worried about them bein' scared?" she said, turning her gaze back to the window. The lightening from the storm had struck a few trees not to far out of town, and a few of the buildings in town. The town's people hurried around, forming a bucket brigade to put out the burning buildings before they caught the rest of the town on fire. "what time is it?" Mel asked, turning her gaze back to Salocin, She seemed to have died once she knew she would be safe, even with the storm still wadgeing war outside. She was happy that Salocin had stayed, and even happier that the storm was now gone.

Salocin sat in the chair, twiddling his thumbs while Melanie got up. "Yep, didn't have anything else to do. You seemed pretty out of it last night, so thats why I stayed. You seem better now, thats good." He stood up and popped his stiff back. "Is there anything you'd like to tell me, Melanie?", Salocin asked. He watched her with his ever-alert eyes that now had dark circles underneath them. "You seem like you are hiding something. Like a secret. Are you keeping secrets from me?" Salocin felt a tick somewhere in his brain is this love?, telling him to be watchful of the town surrounding the hotel. He grunted as a reply to the advanced senses he was blessed with. "It's almost time to leave," Salocin murmered toward Melanie's direction, as he was now standing toward the door, thinking.

"That storm, last night brought back bad memories. That's all!" Mel said, quickly, as she put her boots on, got up and headed for the door. "The last time I was in a storm like that, was when my farm was raided, an' Molly was killed. When Molly's parents were killed, there was an elctrical storm then as well, so you can see why I was so 'out of it'" she then added, and grabed her gunbelt. After putting it on and holstering her guns, she put on her coat, and hat. "everytime there's been one of storms something bad happens, an' I don't like bein' alone durein' them!" she said, and opened the door. "Other than that, I have nothin' else to say! Except let's get outta here as quickly as we can!" she said, turning her gaze back towards the door "Maybe if I run far enough away, I'll get to a place where there aren't any of those storms, as well as, out run my past." shw thought to herself, and sighed. "Let's go get some food, before we leave? I don't think I can stand another day of your jerky or cookin'!" she then added. Just then some people came running dow the hallway and bolted down te stairs "FIRE!" they screamed, as they passed the door.
"Fire?!" Mel said, and sniffed the air "Oh No! We have to get outta here...NOW?!" she shouted, rather loudly, and bolted from the room, and followed the other peole down the stairs and out of the hotel. She gasped at the sight that lay before her eyes, after exiting the door, people and animals bolted in all direction, a bucket briadge had been formed and was desperately trying to save what they could, black smoke and flames belowed out of many of the buildings. "I knew it! I was right! I'm cursed!" she thought to herself, as she stepped out into the street. She turned and looked back at the hotel, waiting for Salocin, when she was suddenly snatched off the ground. "I told ya I'd return, Mel!" Jake's voice said, as they headed for the train that was about to leave, Jake's horse leapt into the air and landed, inside the open door, on one of the box cars, just as the train had started moveing. They'd be long gone and far away before anyone knew Mel was missing, the fire had played right into Jake's plans.
Another man walked up and sut the door, loacked, then walked to a table they'd stolen and put in the corner of the car. He flopped down in the chair, leaned against the wall, and took a big gulp from the bootle he was holding. "We didn't think you'd make it in time Jake!" another man said, as Jake dismounted, then threw Mel, rather harshly on the floor. "Me? Late? HA! I'm always right on time! If you boys are gonna be my new gang, then you need to learn the leader's alwys right!" Jake answered, then walked and grabbed some rope "Here?! Tie her up!" he said throwing to rope to a man that sat on the floor, next to the door. The man got up, rather grumpily, waltzed over to Mel, grabbed her up then threw her into a chair. He then tied her wrists and ankles, and gaged her, to keep her from screaming. He looked over at Jake, who now had a bottle of whiskey turned up, and groweled, then returned to place by the door.

Salocin waited for Melnaie to stop speaking so he could get a word in, but he suddenly smelled smoke. Right after he smelled it, a man ran down the hallway yelling "Fire!" Melanie bolted out the door and Salocin followed. She turned down the hallway to the stairs leading to the lobby, but Salocin turned right, toward the janitor closet he'd seen the night before. He pulled out his Walker Colt and shot the lock off of the door with a nearly-deafening boom. He pulled the flimsy door open with a little too much strength, ripping the door off of its hinges. He threw the door aside and reached inside the closet, grabbing some buckets. He hurried downstairs and out the back door of the hotel, spotting a water pump immediately. He pumped the water into both buckets ferociously and carried the buckets toward the fire consuming the hotel. A baggage man was screaming at other patrons for water and Salocin handed him one bucket. The man nodded in thanks and said "Follow me!" They ran towards the center of the hotel, which was the kitchen. Salocin and the man were soon backed up with other patrons with full buckets of water and they began pouring water, dousing the flaming areas. They fought the fire for about an hour until it was extinguished. "Thanks," the young baggage man said. "Don't mention it," Salocin replied. Salocin dropped his bucket and headed outside to find Melanie. She was nowhere to be found. He shouted her name three times but to no avail. "Curses," Salocin muttered under his breath while he watched the town burn.

The train chugged along the tracks, not a sound could be heard inside the box car except the clickedy clack of the iron wheels on the rail. The small, newly formed, gang of outlaws sat playing a game of poker. Mel looked around, to see if there was any way she could escape, but, didn't see anyhope. Jake got up from where he sat and walked over to Mel, the untied the bandana, "Let me go?!" Mel shouted, in his face. "Mel?! I'm hurt, I rescue you from that burnin' town, an' you yell at me?!" Jake said, with a hint of sarcasim, "Rescue me? You kidnapped me! You jerk!" Mel yelled at him. Jake stared at her a moment then stood upright and started to walk off. He got almost back to his chair when he turned, quickly, on his heel and came back over to Mel. He leaned down and got right her face "NO! I rescued you! There's a posse of lawman, an' bunty hunters on your tail! They all want you for the price on your head, an' want the gold!" he shouted, loudly. "I don't have the gold! I was arrested a few days ago, an' unsuccussfully hanged, an' the gold was retreived!" Mel shouted back ""if they're after me, then why aren't they after you? Why would you care if I was alive or dead anyhow?" she then added, with an angry look on her face.
"Because...They think I'm already dead! Plus, I wanted to offer you a place in my new gang, after all the crap our father's gang, an' my previous gang, put you through, I thught that was the least I could do." Jake answered back, standing upright, again, "That's not gonna bring back Molly, her parents, or the two ranchs!" Mel shouted in reply. "Could you teo keep it down?! We're tryin' to play a game here!" one of the men from the table shouted, Jake turned and glared at the man "Shut up Bill!" he shouted, placeing his right hand on the handle of his gun. Bill nodded in reply and went back to his cards, Jake turned back to Mel, "You can either take my offer an' stay alive? Or you can die, be it by our hands, or those who are lookin' for you? Your choice?" he said, with an evil grin. He then walked back over to the chair, he'd been earlier, and sat down I'm not goin' to tell her the real reasn I took her." he thought to himself "I hope I can gather enough gang members to start ut agian, before i die." he then added to that thought. He then leaned the chair back against the wall, and closed his eyes, and soon fell asleep. The train'd reach their stop before the next morning's light, if they didn't bail out before it got there. After leaving the train they'd not have a long way to go, to get to their hideout, only a dangerous trip.

Several hours later, Jake, the other outlaws, and Mel, were headed towards the outlaws' hide out. Jake had picked a place that no one'd even set foot near, the area around the hidout was harsh on anyone trying to make it through, and the fact that Jake had set traps of all kinds around didn't help matters much at all. They walked their horse calmly through the traps, zigzagging whenever needed, until finally they'd made it their hideout. Jake carried Mel inside, and the other men followed. Two of the men came back outside, a few minutes later and gathreed the horses, leading them around back to put them in the makeshift pens. Jake sat Mel down in a chair, and checked the knots on the ropes to make sure she couldn't get away, she hadn't uttered a word since Jake's offer of joining the gang, even through the harsh ride to the hideout.
She watched him as he turned and started into another room, he stopped in the doorway and turned his head, looking back at the other men "None of you touch her! If any of you lay one finger on her I'll make sure you pay dearly!" he said, then walked on into the room, shutting the door behind him. The others all looked at each other, then at Mel, then the closed door, and went back to talking and stared up a card game. Jake walked over to the dresser in the room and opened a drawer, took out a small bottle of some kind of medicine, and screwed the cap off. He then turned it up and took a large gulp of it, a disgusted look formed on his face, as he swallowed the bad tasteing stuff. He screwed the cap back on, placed the bottle back in the door, and closed the drawer. He stared at his self in the mirror for a short while, then took out a small bottle of whiskey from his inside coat pocket, uncapped it and took a big gulp, to chase down the awful taste of the medicine. "That's better!" he thought to his self, as he replaced the cap, and placed the bottle back in his pocket. He then walked over to his bed and lay down.
A few hours later, everyone in the hideout was fast asleep, save for Mel. She couldn't sleep tied to a chair, she closed her eyes, trying to sleep. She ended up gtting a small amount of sleep, but, then was jerked up from the chair bright and early the next morning by jake. "Good mornin', Mel! I hope you slept well!" he said, with a snicker, as he took her into the kitchen, and cut the ropes from her ankles and wrists. "Now Cook?! We're all hungry! An' no tryin' to escape or I will not hesitate to kill you!" he then said, and untied the bandana, Mel just nodded yes and started to work, cooking, with whatever utincles she could find that were clean. The kitchen lacked, cleanliness that was for sure, and seemed to be lacking food as well, but, she managed to cook enough food to satify the angry looking bunch. "Come an' get it?! Food's ready!" she called, as she sat plates out, the outlaws came rushing in and after awhile had snatched all the foor up, leaving Mel with nothing after all that work. They ate greedily, a sloppily, as if htey hadn't eated in weeks, truth be known they hadn't had a proper meal in weeks. Thus was the main reason Jake had kidnapped Mel. Mel walked over to the now empty table, save for the dirty dishes, and flopped down in a chair, and sighed. She folded her arms, rested then on the table, and rested her head on them, burying her face in them. She closed her eyes and tried to go back to sleep, ignoreing the noisey outlaws in the living room.

OOC: My strength is sapped from a case of temporary bronchial asthma, so please pardon this hurried post.
IC:
Salocin searched the town for Melanie for one hour, asking the townsfolk if they'd seen her at any time today. He almost gave up until an old man told him she had boarded a train not too long ago. Salocin thanked the man and gathered his equipment and Hondo from the stables and rode after the direction of the train. He rode for six hours until sundown and set up camp on the railside, in a small clearing of the nearby forest. He slept stresfully until sunrise and began his search down the track. He rode for about seven hours until about three in the afternoon. He saw a large cabin while walking down the path and veered toward the wooded area. He looked at the wood enplacement and saw what looked like a door. I wonder what that is, Salocin thought.

OOC: Where the heck are you at? THe hideout's not a cave. It's an ordinary, but, abandoned, cabin, in a very trecherous an' dangerous area. *sigh* Oh well. *shrugs*
IC: It was several hours later, around 3 in the afternoon, when Mel was awakened by Jake. "You asleep on the job?" he asked, with a hint of annoyance in his vocie. "Come on?! You need to start supper! The others are out scouting the area makin' sure the traps are all in workin' order, an' that no one's around. They'll be hungry when they return." he then said, as Mel got up from the chair. Jake stared around the kitchen, it was cleaner than it usually was, now that there was someone there to clean it. He sighed and turned back to Mel "Mel?!" he began, while takeing in a deep breath, "I know you think the reason I kidnapped you was so you could cook, an' clean for us, but, the main reason I did it was because I'm dyein'! Of what they don't know. I only have a few months left, an' I wanted to turn the gang over to you." he then added, letting the breath out. "Jake, you know I don't want to be an outlaw. I'm tried of people treatin' me like one as it is! Can't you just find someone else to take over your place?" Mel asked, looking up from gathering some pots and pans. "I supose I could, but, just between you an' me, there's no one else in the gang worthy, or smart enough to take of a leadership position." Jake answered, then turned and left the room, without waiting for Mel to say anything else.
Mel returned to hre work, and after about 30 minutes to an hour had enough food cooked to, hopfully, satisfy the gang. "Jake?!" a man yelled, as he came into the cabin, rather, noiseily, "Some of the men spotted a man an' horse near here, headed this way!" he shouted, half out of breath. "Ride back an' tell 'em to bring him in unharmed! We need a few more members anyhow!" was the reply, that came from Jake's room, the man turned and made his way out the door, and back to his horse, then climbed in the saddle and rode off. It was about an hour latter when the entire gang returned home, along with Salocin, they all sat at the table in the kitchen and hte small one in the living room waiting for their food. SAlocin had been tied to chair so Jake could talk to him about the job offer. Jake sat in a chair in front of Salocin, just Mel came out with some plates of food, gave them out then disappeared into the kitchen once more. He waited until all hte men were eatting and started his interigation, luckily, Mel hadn't noticed who the man was they'd brought in.
"I'd like to know what were you doin' shoopin' around my hideout?" Jake asked, looking Salocin in the eye, "You're lucky I'm in a good mood today. Otherwise you'd be dead. I'd like to make you an offer, my gang's low on members an' I'd like to offer yo a spot in my gang, now that you've saw our hideout. Most folks that come on to our land never see anther day. Once you're here you can never leave." Jake added, and grinneed. "So tell me what are your skills? What are their level? An' have you ever been on the wrong side of the law? If so what'd you do?" he then asked, and pulled a knife from his belt, then cut the ropes, "prehaps you'd like to show me your skills an' their level. Come on?! Let's go outside, I have a shootin' area set up. That is if you're interested in joinin' an' promise not to try an' make a break for it?!" Jake added, with a serious look on his face. He then turned his head away for a moment and coughed into his sleeve, but then acted as if nothing had happened, and got up from the chair, put the knife away, walked to the door, and stood waiting for Salocin.

After hearing what Jake had to say, Salocin walked with him to the firing range, telling Jake about himself. "Well, I'm pretty good with this rifle here," Salocin patted the rifle on his back," and I never miss with this Walker Colt here." He pulled the monster from its holster that took up part of Salocin's right leg. He smelled something on Jake and realized what it was. He's dying, Salocin thought. They stopped at the firing range. A target sat about one-hundred yards away. The target had a crude bullseye drawn in the center in black. Salocin aimed at the target with his left eye closed and his right looking down the sights of the gun. He pulled the trigger. The gun roared like a cannon and Salocin's arm flew up as the shot flew toward the target. The top half of the target board exploded and what was left of the structure fell over. Salocin smiled to himself, wondering what this gun would do at point-blank range to Jake's head. It would probably turn to a red mist and nothing more. No need to waste the bullet, Jake was as good as dead. Salocin lowered the Colt and looked at Jake, boring right through him with his dark brown eyes. "What else do you want to know?" Salocin waited for an answer.

Jake looked at Salocin's guns, then watched in amzement, as the target exploded. "Wow, I'm glad he's on my side!" Jake thought, to himself. Then turned to Salocin after he'd lowered the gun "Great shootin'! One last test though, but, it'll have wait until mornin'! The final test is robbin' the bank in town alone! We leave out at dawn." Jake answered, and grinned, "Other than that, I'd say you're in!" he said, and pated Salocin on the back, as he started back to the front of the house. Jake turned and looked back, as he came to the back corner of the house, "Come on?! Lat's get some supper before the rest of the guys eat it all?!" he hollered back, at Salocin, he knew his gang was just as greedy with food as they were with money, so if you wanted anything to eat you'd better hurry. Jake then walked to the front of the house, and up on the porch, then disappeared through the door. He didn't stop to say anything to the othes, instead he walked straight to the kitchen, and shut the door behind him. "Mel, looks like I may've found someone to take over the gang instead of you, but, don't worry that doesn't mean we're goin' to kill you." he said, as he shut the door, "You're goin' to let me go then?" Mel asked turning away from the dishes. "No, like I said, whoever sees our land, an' hideout can never leave. You're stayin' in the gang, but, I'm goin' to make sure no one hurts you, as well as let the new guy know, my rule about you stayin' unharmed still stands even after I step down or I'm gone!" Jake answered, "I have one more test for this guy to pass, but I think he's pretty much in." he added, and smiled, "When he returns I'll introduce you to him." he then said, and sat down in a chair at the table. "Well I hope it's quick. I'm tired out, this has been a long day." Mel said, with a yawn, then walked to the table with 3 full plates, and sat one in front of Jake, another across from him, and one in front of the chair she was about to sit in. She then pulled the chair out and flopped down in it heavily, and began eating. "I wonder why Jake's changed his mind? He said if I don't take over the gang that they'd kill me, but, then just now said that I'd get to live even though I might not take over." Mel thought to herself, then shrugged her shoulders, and continued eating "I'll ask him later."

After the first trial, Salocin killed some time by exploring the wooded vicinity around the hideout. He didn't come back until late at night, ready to sleep. He covered Hondo with his blanket and Salocin laid against him as a pillow. Pretty soon he was asleep. He awoke the next day with the sun barely peeking through the trees. He stodd up and stretched, then prepared Hondo for the journey. Without warning anyone, they rode back to the town.
It took about six hours, and by the time they arrived, it was about noon, with the sun high in the sky. He glanced at the town as he rode in. The hotel looked like it would need some work. The roof was charred and so were the two floors underneath it. Otherwise, the town looked normal. Salocin stopped and thought for a moment. He then veered to the left and had Hondo wait behind the grainery store, which was the first building you see coming from his direction into the town. He told Hondo to stay and Salocin walked down the dusty road toward the bank and through the squeaky double doors. He glanced around for security. Nothing except for two fat, lazy-looking guards. He strolled over to the bank teller, a sleepy-looking woman of about thirty-five. The bank was virtually empty besides the employees. Only three other people were there, and that consisted of a grumpy father, an exasperated mother and a whining child. Salocin walked toward the cashier and, without warning, jumped over the counter, with his Walker Colt being held by the barrel. He swung it mightily and the butt collided with the side of the woman's skull, knocking her unconcious. He glanced at the safe and sighed greatly, almost to a laugh. For his luck, the vault was open. He ran inside and the guard piling money inside. The guard had no time to respond. Salocin pulled the vault door closed, wich in turn locked it. The guard turned around, suprised. The next thing he saw was Salocin's fist traveling at an unbelievable speed toward his face. The guard's nose crumpled on impact and he doubled over and the ground, writhing. Salocin grabbed all of the bags, which consisted of an even ten, and tied a string around the opening on all of them, keeping them in a line, and enabling Salocin to lift one and the others follow. By this time, beating was thumping on the vault door. Salocin dragged the man's body toward the door and propped him up, face away from Salocin. Salocin walked toward the wall and reached inside his raggedy overcoat pocket. He pulled out a bundle of dynamite and set it against the wall. Before lighting the fuse, he knocked over all of the tables and set them in a line, so all three table tops faced the dynamite. Salocin placed the guards body behind the tables farthest from the bomb. Salocin grabbed the dynamite and lit the fuse. He placed the bundle back against the wall, and crouched behind the table next to the man. The explosion rocked the room. The first table was incinerated, the second was splintered into big jagged chunks, but Salocin's table was unharmed. He stood up, with the line of money bags laid over his shoulders like a mink coat, and walked through the gaping hole in the wall. He wrote a note onto a piece of paper then threw it back into the hole inside the bank. He crossed through the back pathway behind the building in front of him and found Hondo, rather moody from the loud noise. Salocin threw the line of bags over Hondo's back, then hopped aboard and they ran from the town. They arrived back at the hideout, at this time about evening. Salocin was hungry and thirsty, but full of energy. He stopped and led Hondo to a drinking hole. Salocin grabbed the line of money and walked toward the hideout door. He knocked loudly.
